With a release scheduled for 6th July in the United States and 14th August in Italy, we’re all abuzz for Ant-Man and The Wasp, the third feature from the Marvel Cinematic Universe to be released in 2018. And we expect it will be a great success, if only due to the presence of Michael Douglas and Michelle Pfeiffer in the cast. Below we have brought together some intriguing details that may interest the film’s future audience, based on comments made by director Peyton Reed.
There’s a new heroine in town: Wasp
Reed seems to be walking on air when it comes to the debut of Wasp, played by Evangeline Lilly, with whom there was immediate chemistry on set. The director hasn’t held back his enthusiasm when anticipating the fantastic powers with which Wasp comes equipped: like Ant-Man, she is able to shrink – but she is also able to fly and demonstrate other special skills that will make her a unique character.
All’s not lost for Hank Pym
As in 2015’s Ant-Man, scientist Hank Pym will again be played by the talented Michael Douglas. The director has re-confirmed the casting from the first film that the public so enjoyed, and so Douglas’ character takes renewed interest in the Quantum Realm, partially thanks to the secret hope that his wife Janet is still alive there.
Janet van Dyne arrives in the Microverse
After making her comic book feature debut as Catwoman in Batman Returns, Michelle Pfeiffer will make her first appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe playing Janet van Dyne, the wife of scientist Hank Pym. Initially believed dead after having disappeared into the Microverse of the Quantum Realm, in this new film she will play a pivotal role, having survived that faraway world yet still carrying traces of it.
