The most entertaining cars of the big screen are about to return to cinemas with the third episode in the Cars saga, one of the most beloved Disney Pixar productions.
The film, which has been present in American theatres since 16th June, has been warmly received not just by its youngest fans but also by adults. On Rotten Tomatoes (an America website that gathers reviews of films and TV series ed), Cars 3 managed to obtain a 70% positive rating.
This chapter comes after Cars and Cars 2, both directed by John Alan Lasseter, considered by many as the “modern Walt Disney”.
For this new film (which sees a change of director with Brian Fee), Lasseter assures us that the plot, thanks to its strong intensity, will resemble the first film in a particular way. New characters will also be introduced, but the story will still focus on Lightning McQueen.
Cars 3: the plot
In this new chapter, Lightning McQueen will find himself facing a mid-life crisis that will lead him to retreat from racing. All this because of a new generation of highly technological racing cars, which are fighting their way onto the sporting panorama.
The enduring car, however, has one last chance and thanks to the help of racing trainer Cruz Ramirez and Doc Hudson, he will succeed in demonstrating that his time is not yet up.
The film was presented last July, also here in Italy, with the participation of many renowned faces who give voice to the characters. We will re-encounter Sabrina Ferilli, who gives voice to Sally, the fiancée of Lightning.
On the other hand, it will be the debut of singer J-Ax and the radio presenter La Pina, who will dub the speaker of the Crazy 8 race and the ex-school minibus Miss Fritter respectively.
Pixar, a success story
Pixar has been making animated films for more than 20 years. Its films have not only enjoyed great honours but have also overwhelmed box office rankings on a global scale.
Toy Story 3 – The Great Escape, for example, exceeded one billion dollars of takings, winning the Oscar and Golden Globe for Best Animated Film and a Grammy Award for Best Soundtrack. The American Film Institute placed it on the list of the 10 best films of 2010.
We will need to wait until 2019, however, to enjoy the fourth chapter in the saga set in the world of toys, while next summer will see the superheroes of The Incredibles return with a second episode that is already garnering much interest.
