Put science, fantasy and technology together: add a little of genius, inventiveness and a lot of fun: here are Make Faire Rome ingredients to make it a successful event in 2016!
The fourth edition of the faire that celebrates digital artisanship will take place from October 14th to October 16th at Fiera di Roma venue: there will be hundreds of projects, ideas and inventions by Makers, startups, innovative SMEs, schools, universities and Fab Labs from all over the world, especially from Europe.
Who are Makers?
The main characters at Maker Faireare the makers: everybody who makes something, invents or creates something new. Makers are driven by their hunger towards the future, paving the way with the strength of their ideas. Makers are artisans 2.0, who apply the “do it yourself – DIY” philosophy into technology and science. They try to go beyond the limits of their abilities through their sharing spirit and the mutual help they give to each other. In fact Makers are all part of a great international community still growing, always keeping in touch with themselves.

Enthusiasm and passion are known to be the foundation of winning ideas and projects: these are the two elements that feature Rome Maker Faire. Three days full of programs, live performances, workshops, seminars and conferences are expected. The agenda is supposed to allow every attender to enter a universe of tomorrow, in order to explore the revolutions that will define human history.
A lot of new products will be presented in 2016, among robots, drones and other inventions, which are to question everything regarding accessibility and environmental sustainability.
Here are some examples of the inventions at Rome Maker Faire this year:
- Watly, a water purifier working with solar energy

Maker Faire is not only a meeting, confrontation and sharing place, but also an event open to everyone: there will be a lot of opportunities to have fun, even for children, who will have a dedicated area and reserved surprises and playing and educational activities.
We are all makers!
The audience in Rome Maker Faire will be directly engaged, because we are all makers, in some ways: we all create something new, both we are aware of it or not. This is what Dale Dougherty says: he’s the father of Maker Faire, which started in 2006 in California and soon spread all over the world. Here’s one of his speeches at TED:
All you have to do is to leave yourself to creativity, and extract the maker in you.
