Anticipation is building for Spiderman Homecoming, Marvel Studios’ latest production, scheduled for release in Italy on 6th July 2017 (with previews screening the day before at Cine&Comic Fest in Genoa).
Details about the new film, directed by Jon Watts, are leaked every day. The director and Tom Holland (who plays Peter Parker/Spiderman) held a press conference in Rome a few days ago to introduce the film.
Marvel Comics fans have huge expectations for the film, and many expect it to be a major blockbuster.
The first Spiderman reboot from Marvel
For the first time, a Spiderman reboot will be produced by Marvel Studios, who decided to recruit a stellar cast for the film. The list includes Robert Downey Jr., who plays Spiderman’s mentor Iron Man. The biggest surprise is Michael Keaton, who played DC Comics’ Batman in the 1980s, and will now inhabit the role of Vulture, Peter Parker’s villainous nemesis.
There are many teasers online that reveal parts of the film. As we all know, Spiderman Homecoming centres on Peter Parker’s life in high school, after the Civil War battle.
Because of this, you will see scenes from the daily life of this Forest Hills student.
New revelations at the MTV Movie Awards
During last month’s MTV Movie Awards in Los Angeles, a clip showed 15-year-old Spiderman dealing with his everyday life, including managing his secret identity with best friend Ned.
True fans of the Marvel Comics Universe are looking forward to an important feature that the studio always adds to its films: bonus scenes after the credits. It looks like there will be major revelations at the end of the film, shedding light on Marvel’s upcoming productions. According to the director, staying until the very end will be worth it.
The director’s vision of a “light-hearted superhero”
Spiderman Homecoming is a very light and fun film.
As director Jon Watts reveals, this film was shot from the perspective of a 15-year-old, where representation of the ordinary combines with the magic of a superhero’s adventures.
Plus, there are already talks of sequels and a spin-off. Spiderman Homecoming will be a trilogy and the second instalment will be released on 5th July 2019. Michael Keaton and Robert Downey Jr.’s appearances in the sequels have not yet been confirmed. According to US media, Spiderman will be joined by another Marvel superhero whose identity is currently unknown.
