After 15 years from the opening of the first film inspired on the hero of Spider-Man, the 7th of July it will be released Spider-Man: Homecoming, the second and long-awaited reboot dedicated to the undisputed most famous Marvel Hero. What should we expect by this re-entry?
Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe
After the attempt of relaunching the character by Sony in The Amazing Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man 2: Electro’s power (which didn’t particularly amaze the public), the major, which owns the movie rights on the character, made a deal with Marvel in 2015. By that time, the superhero would have been part of Marvel Cinematic Universe.
This means that, first, Amazing Spider-Man abandoned his saga, which apparently comprehended two spin-offs at the beginning, respectively the Sinister Six and Venom’s sagas). In addition, this gave the opportunity to Spider-Man to appear in other Superheroes’ movies branded Marvel: in fact, in Civil War: Captain America the new Spider-man appeared yet, played by Tom Holland, protagonist also of the out coming movie next July.
Announced already in 2015, right after the Sony-Marvel agreement, Spider-Man: Homecoming has been officially presented, including full casts and trailers of the plot, in last year summer, on the occasion of the Comic-Con 2016.
The plot and the official trailer
Despite what could be expected, the film directed by Jon Watts, will not be a story over Spider-Man’s origins. Rather, it will be recounted the growth path and maturation evolution of Peter Parker/Spider-Man. Relevant attention will be paid for Peter’s school life, with annexed troubles and concerns typical for the teenage -, setting up a really innovative approach on him (and in general, to all superheroes).
Hence, still the details are missing, but the story will be about a very young Peter Parker committed in managing a not so brilliant scholastic career, teenage existential troubles, and the fight against the “villains” of New York in the guise of Spider-Man. In the film, will make his appearance Tony Stark/Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), playing the role of a mentor that will guide our new born super hero, providing him the high tech accessories that he created himself.
Waiting for the one that will make the sixteenth film from Marvel Cinematic Universe, here there is a glimpse with the official trailer, went out in Italy the last 9th of December.
A few curious things glimpsed in the trailer
- The main villain in Spider-Man: Homecoming will be the Vulture, played by Micheal Keaton: a brilliant engineer a long time ago, who become a criminal after a practical joke played by a partner in business. However, it seems that this time there won’t be only one antagonist: Spider-Man will have to fight also the Tinkerer and Shocker, appeared already in the comics of Spider-Man, but never seen in any movie so far. What is the real secret in common with these three villains?
- It seems that in this movie, in spite of what used to happen in the other films, the protagonist will not fight against his enemies with punches: how will Spider-Man defeat them? Surely, as it’s shown in the trailer, the unfailing spider webs will make a good allied to win the evil and get to safe various threatened lives.
- After the quick appearance in Captain America: Civil War everybody thought Spider-Man would have been replaced: instead, the homemade outfit designed with the historical blue-red pants with the hooded sweatshirt of the young Peter Parker just become Spider-Man, will be present even in this film. Probably for a short time though, since already in the trailer it’s seen a Spider-Man with a more professional suit, provided even with Spider web wings. In occasion of CES 2017, Marvel spread a video in which ulterior details over Spider Man’s suit are revealed, some of these seem to be high-tech gadgets innovative to the superhero: holographic wrist display, spider webs launcher with a system of laser aim and expressive eyes.
