The organisation of space: nearly an Open Space office, but not completely!
For years, the common opinion has been that open space offices are the perfect solution for increasing productivity in the working environment. In reality, a new model is being developed, which entails the inclusion of an open space area – to promote exchange and collaboration – together with closed and limited zones that guarantee silence when maximum concentration is required. This mixed form of organisation necessarily accompanies the use of portable technology, including tools that can be used while moving such as portable speakers and equipment sets for conference calls.
The office of the future is moving
2018 testifies to a further stabilisation in a trend that has been in vogue for a few years: distance working. Businesses offer employees the possibility of working remotely, an excellent way to reduce overhead costs and increase productivity, giving employees the chance to work from home. It is therefore necessary to invest in technologies that support professionals in distance working, such as Unified Communication (UC) – or the coming together of integrated communications, which help to optimise company professes – such as the cloud, for example, which permits the exchange of information and the sharing of data over distances.
The office of the future is connected: space for IoT
2017 brought with it a clear statistic: is has been calculated that the number of connected devices currently stands at 9 billion, thus substantially exceeding the entire population of the world. Companies are also responding to the trend, by introducing tools to provide heating or illumination via smart devices, for example, and security devices that are less costly and invasive than those traditionally used (a saving of more than 6 billion dollars by the end of 2025 has been calculated). In the future, we will also witness the adoption of wearable accessories to monitor working processes with the idea of identifying internal areas of improvement.
